Mr. BAKERThe proportion of replies to invitations to tender for furniture does not suggest that the time allowed has been insufficient for the preparation of tenders. The urgent need of securing early supplies renders it necessary to obtain tenders with the minimum of delay, but every effort is and will be made to allow as much time as possible for their return.
