HC Deb 19 November 1914 vol 68 cc546-7
34. Mr. HOGGE

asked the Under-Secretary for War whether the War Office refused a gift of £150 worth of a certain condiment for the use of Army horses because they were not informed of its ingredients.

Mr. TENNANT

The facts are substantially as stated by my hon. Friend. The spirit underlying the offer was appreciated, but it was not considered desirable to depart from the existing practice which is against using condiments, the composition and possible effects of which are not known and cannot be determined. Experience has proved this practice to be in all respects wise.
