HC Deb 18 November 1914 vol 68 cc404-5
7. Mr. F. HALL (Dulwich)

asked the Under-Secretary of State for India whether retired Indian Army officers who are acting as interpreters to the Indian Expeditionary Force are entitled to the pay and allowances of their rank in the Indian Army; and, if not, will he state the reason for such pay not being granted?

The UNDER-SECRETARY of STATE for INDIA (Mr. C. Roberts)

Retired officers of the Indian Army employed by the War Office as interpreters continue to draw their Indian pensions, and in addition receive the pay and allowances of the appointment. This is in accordance with the terms of re-employment laid down in Article 496 of the Royal Warrant, from which there, appears no reason to depart.
