53. Mr. F. HALL (Dulwich)asked the Under-Secretary for War whether separation allowance will be granted to the wives of soldiers and sailors now in the Service who marry after the date of Order Cd. 7662 was issued?
§ Mr. H. BAKERThe Paper referred to lays down new rates of allowances, etc., but does not vary the existing conditions as regards date of marriage. While the War Office is prepared to give and has given special consideration to individual cases of hardship, and while no restriction is placed upon the enlistment of men already married, my Noble Friend does not contemplate the removal of all restrictions upon the marriage of serving soldiers.
