HC Deb 18 November 1914 vol 68 c418
40. Mr. BUTCHER

asked the Under-Secretary for War whether it is the intention of the Government to make any provision for the dependants of men who, having enlisted since the commencement of the War, die of some illness contracted during their period of training and before they are sent to the front?

Mr. BAKER

The question of the rates and conditions of pension for dependants is under consideration, but in the meantime the separation allowance and allotments received during the soldier's lifetime are being continued pending a decision.

Mr. BUTCHER

Does that answer apply to the men who die during their period of training and before they are sent to the front?

Mr. BAKER

It applies to any case in which separation allowance was being paid, but I imagine that is one of the questions which will come under the consideration of the Committee which is to be appointed.
