HC Deb 13 May 1914 vol 62 c1114
72. Sir CHARLES HENRY

asked the Home Secretary if, in consideration of the failure of the Bill in connection with the Sale of Intoxicating Liquors on Sunday to obtain a Second Reading, he will recognise the necessity, in order that similar legislation may be carried, to bring in legislation to enforce that the sale and supply of drink in all clubs shall conform, as regards hours and other conditions, with the regulations that are or may be in operation as regards licensed premises?

Mr. McKENNA

My hon. Friend will be aware that the House is in possession of a Bill introduced by the hon. Member for the Ecclesall Division of Sheffield which goes in the direction he indicates, and has been sent to a Standing Committee. The Government do not propose to introduce legislation on the subject this Session.

Sir C. HENRY

Do I understand that the Government will give facilities for the Bill to which the right hon. Gentleman referred?

Mr. McKENNA

That question ought not to be addressed to me, and at present it would be premature to address it to-anybody.
