HC Deb 13 May 1914 vol 62 cc1095-6
52. Lord NINIAN CRICHTON-STUART

asked the Secretary of State for War when uniforms will be issued to the members of the National Reserve, as promised by the late Secretary of State?

Mr. TENNANT

I cannot find that my right hon. Friend made any promise such as that stated in the question. The matter has recently been considered by the Army Council. The wearing of military uniform is contrary to the provisions of the National Reserve Regulations. No issues are contemplated.

53. Lord NINIAN CRICHTON-STUART

asked whether a sufficient number of rifles will be issued, together with ammunition, to the National Reserve to permit of target practice being carried on?

Mr. TENNANT

Rifles are issued, free of cost of carriage, to county associations for rifle clubs of National Reservists within certain limits. Ammunition for practice with these rifles can be obtained at cost price.
