HC Deb 11 May 1914 vol 62 c724
70. Mr. CROOKS

asked the Secretary of State for War whether the firm of Strachan and Company, Stroud, are contractors to the War Office; if so, whether he is aware that the wages paid to the workpeople employed are less than those paid by other firms in the district; and whether he will have inquiry made with a view to securing compliance with the Fair-Wages Clause?

The FINANCIAL SECRETARY to the WAR OFFICE (Mr. Harold Baker)

No complaint has been received of infringment of the Fair-Wages Clause by the firm mentioned, but if the hon. Member will be good enough to give particulars of the wages complained of and the class of workpeople affected inquiry will be made.
