HC Deb 11 May 1914 vol 62 c691
11. Mr. GODFREY LOCKER-LAMPSON

asked the hon. Member for St. George's-in-the-East, as representing the Insurance Commissioners, if a married woman suspended from benefit under Section 44 of the National Insurance Act, 1911, is entitled to vote at any ordinary meeting of the approved society on whose books she is?

Mr. WEDGWOOD BENN (Lord of the Treasury)

The right to vote in such a case as that to which the hon. Member refers would depend upon the rules of the society.

Mr. G. LOCKER-LAMPSON

Will the hon. Member ask the Commissioners to issue some new Regulations giving these women the right to vote?

Mr. W. BENN

No, I think the Insurance Commissioners have sufficient power to approve or not approve of rules which are laid before them.

Mr. G. LOCKER-LAMPSON

Will these women be entitled to receive the additional benefits under the Act?

Mr. W. BENN

I do not think that is the question on the Paper now arising out of it. Perhaps the hon. Member will put it down.
