HC Deb 11 May 1914 vol 62 cc691-2
12. Mr. GODFREY LOCKER-LAMPSON

asked why subsistence and loss of time allowances granted to insurance committeemen by Section 31 of the Act of 1913 have not yet been made; whether the consequence is that working men who cannot afford to miss wages are frequently absent from the meetings of such committees; and whether the National Association of Insurance Committees, representing about three-quarters of the insured population, have pressed the Insurance Commissioners to make a statement on the subject?

Mr. W. BENN

I would refer the hon. Member to my previous answers on the subject. Unavoidable delay has been occasioned by the necessity for considering the schemes submitted by all insurance committees in connection with the basis of the Grants to be made towards the expense of such schemes, but this delay will not result in any loss to the persons concerned. The answer to the last part of the question is in the negative.
