HC Deb 07 May 1914 vol 62 c420
15. Mr. F. HALL (Dulwich)

asked the Chief Secretary for Ireland if it will be open to the Irish Parliament, under the Government of Ireland Bill, to impose Excise Duties on all goods manufactured in Ireland, provided there is no corresponding Customs Duty; and if this provision would cover the imposition of such duties on practically all articles now manufactured in Ulster?

Mr. BIRRELL

I would refer the hon. Member to Clause 15 of the Government of Ireland Bill.

Mr. F. HALL

Docs Clause 15, Subsection (a), override Clause 16, Subsection (2)?

Mr. BIRRELL

I am prepared to take the opinion of the Law Officers.

Mr. F. HALL

The right hon. Gentleman referred mo to Clause 15, and I should be glad if he will answer my question?

Mr. BIRRELL

I will look it up.
