Mr. WORTHINGTON EVANSasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether he is aware that the Middlesex Insurance Committee is refusing to carry out its tuberculosis officer's recommendation that no insured person should receive domiciliary treatment with extras unless the insured person has chosen a panel doctor; and whether, in a case where an insured person has provided and paid for his own medical man, who is willing to act in consultation with the tuberculosis officer, it is the intention of the Government that the insured person is to forfeit the extras under the sanatorium benefit which the tuberculosis officer recommends?
§ Mr. W. BENNThe recommendation of an insurance committee for sanatorium benefit and the nature of the treatment provided thereunder is, as the hon. Member is aware, a matter for the discretion of the committee. My right hon. 438 Friend is informed, however, that no such advice as the hon. Member suggests has been given by the tuberculosis officer referred to.
§ Mr. WORTHINGTON EVANSIf I call the hon. Gentleman's attention to a specific case where the insurance committee acted on the lines indicated in my question, will the Commissioners see that it does not occur again?
