HC Deb 07 May 1914 vol 62 c441
63. Mr. F. HALL (Dulwich)

asked what would be the amount of rebate under the proposals contained in the Budget for 1914–15 to a person with an income of £200 who has four children?

Mr. LLOYD GEORGE

As I explained in my Financial Statement on Monday, a person with an income of £200 who had two children would be entirely relieved from Income Tax. A person with four children under sixteen would be similarly relieved if his income fell between the limits of £160 and £240.

Mr. F. HALL

Is the House to understand that a man who comes within this category would get a rebate of £3 in the year?

Mr. LLOYD GEORGE

There may be a rebate from the Income Tax of 15s. per child.

Mr. F. HALL

Would not a man in this category have to pay £1 10s. for Income Tax and get £3 back?

Mr. SPEAKER

The hon. Member should put the question down in writing.
