HC Deb 06 May 1914 vol 62 c274
43. Mr. JAMES PARKER

asked the President of the Local Government Board whether, notwithstanding the letter sent by his Department to the town clerk of the borough of Marlborough on the 4th March last, the borough council have decided to determine the appointment of their pre sent inspector of nuisances and to make other arrangements which will not be so useful for continuous inspection of the district for the detection and abatement of nuisances; and whether he will take action to prevent this step being taken?

Mr. HERBERT SAMUEL

The town council inform me that they propose to adhere to their resolution to determine the appointment of their present inspector of nuisances, and they have given him notice accordingly. I have no power to prevent their doing this.
