§ 29. Mr. W. THORNEasked the Home Secretary whether there is a trade dispute on with the Carter, Paterson firm and their workmen and, in consequence, the men are out making collections to support them; if the police are interfering with the collectors; and if he intends taking any action in the matter?
§ Mr. McKENNAI am aware of the dispute in question. The Commissioner of Police informs me that no collections made in accordance with the Regulations have been interfered with by the police. On a recent occasion it became necessary to stop certain collectors who contravened the Regulations, but the police requirements were explained to them and the collectors promised to observe them in future.
