HC Deb 04 May 1914 vol 62 c20
29. Mr. W. THORNE

asked the Home Secretary whether there is a trade dispute on with the Carter, Paterson firm and their workmen and, in consequence, the men are out making collections to support them; if the police are interfering with the collectors; and if he intends taking any action in the matter?

Mr. McKENNA

I am aware of the dispute in question. The Commissioner of Police informs me that no collections made in accordance with the Regulations have been interfered with by the police. On a recent occasion it became necessary to stop certain collectors who contravened the Regulations, but the police requirements were explained to them and the collectors promised to observe them in future.
