§ 46. Mr. SNOWDENasked the Prime Minister if, in view of the fact that builders and housing reformers complain that the supply of building material is controlled by a trust which raised prices last year by 20 per cent., which was equal to the price of the land on which houses are built, he will make provision in the Government's Housing Bill enabling public authorities to manufacture building materials and to supply them to private builders?
§ The PARLIAMENTARY SECRETARY to the LOCAL GOVERNMENT BOARD (Mr. Herbert Lewis)The Prime Minister has asked my right hon. Friend to reply to this question. He will give the matter consideration, but he has so far received no request from any public authority to be furnished with such powers.
