§ 20. Lord NINIAN CRICHTON-STUARTasked the President of the Board of Trade whether any steps have been taken with regard to the shipping strike in British ports; and, if so, what they are?
§ Mr. BURNSI understand that during the last few days discussions have been taking place between a committee of the Shipping Federation and the joint committee of the Amalgamated Society of Engineers, the Steam Engine-Makers' Society, and the Marine Engineers' Association. In the circumstances of the case, it does not appear practicable for the Department to take action at present.
