Mr. McKINNON WOODThe Report was signed in proof on the 8th January, and the necessary steps were at once taken for its being printed off and circulated. I am informed that publication may be expected within the next week.

§ 40. Sir GEORGE YOUNGERasked the Secretary for Scotland whether, in view of the complaints by drift-net fishermen of the interference with their industry by trawling for herring with nets of small 764 mesh by steam trawlers, it is intended to take any administrative steps for their protection?
Mr. McKINNON WOODAs the hon. Baronet is aware, the question of trawling for herrings is at present being considered by an Interdepartmental Committee presided over by my right hon. Friend the Postmaster-General. I propose to defer any statement till the Committee reports.
