HC Deb 12 February 1914 vol 58 cc314-5
Mr. PETO

asked the President of the Board of Education whether he proposes to appoint a Commission to inquire into the claims of uncertificated teachers to pension or superannuation allowance; and whether he can hold out any hope that their claims will be recognised by the Government?

The PRESIDENT of the BOARD of EDUCATION (Mr. J. A. Pease)

The answer to the first part of the question is in the negative, and I am not in a position to make any statement on the matter, except that the Government are fully alive to the importance Of the whole question of pensions for teachers.

Mr. PETO

Is the right hon. Gentleman aware that an exactly similar reply has been made before, and does he propose to take any practical steps to meet these claims?

Mr. PEASE

I am considering the whole matter. I am not in a position to make any statement at the present moment.
