§ 34. Mr. KINGasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether he will publish in the Votes a copy of the Proclamation published in the "London Gazette" on 14th August, 1914, under the provisions of the Defence of the Realm Act; and whether he will issue to the Press or the public a summary of the powers conferred by the Proclamation and instructions to be observed by those wishful to comply with it?
§ The SECRETARY of STATE for the HOME DEPARTMENT (Mr. McKenna)I presume my hon. Friend refers to the Regulations made by Order in Council under the Defence of the Realm Act. These Regulations have been published in a special supplement to the "London Gazette," which is on sale. They have been extensively quoted by the newspaper Press, and, in the form of a poster for exhibition, they have been widely distributed by the War Office to the military authorities, the police, and the railway companies. I do not think further action in this direction is necessary at this moment.
