HC Deb 04 August 1914 vol 65 cc1899-900
26. Mr. FIELD

asked the President of the Board of Agriculture whether his attention has been directed to the operations of the American Beef Trust in Argentina and Australia; whether, in view of the fact that 80 per cent. of the supply in the Central Meat Market, London, is of foreign or Colonial importation, he will cause inquiry to be made into this subject or consider the expediency of reappointing the Departmental Committee to investigate and report upon the matter?

Mr. RUNCIMAN

This matter is engaging the careful consideration of the Government, but I cannot make any definite statement upon it at present.
