Mr. WINGasked the President of the Local Government Board if he will amend the Notification of Infectious Diseases Act, by Order or otherwise, in such manner as to make it compulsory on the part of private medical attendants to inform parents as to the nature of the illness of their children and its infectious character, and advise as to the exclusion of children from school pending the arrival of the medical officer of health; and whether he is aware that this proposal is recommended by several public officers of health?
§ Mr. HERBERT SAMUELI am aware that a suggestion of this kind has been made in the report of a medical officer of health, but I have received no representations on the subject. Legislation would be required to give effect to the suggestion, and I am not at present convinced of the necessity for adopting compulsion in this matter.
