HC Deb 27 April 1914 vol 61 cc1346-7
46. Mr. STEEL-MAITLAND

asked the Prime Minister whether, in the possible event of the coercion of Ulster as indicated by the Lord Chancellor, any Ulster voluntary aid society, together with their equipment and stores, will be afforded the same treatment as it they had been signatories to the Geneva Convention?

Mr. LEIF JONES

May I ask whether this question is not out of order as violating the rule against putting hypothetical questions?

Mr. SPEAKER

The Prime Minister can take that point if he chooses.

The PRIME MINISTER

I do.

Mr. STEEL-MAITLAND

May I ask whether the state of affairs contemplated by the Geneva Convention was at least equally as hypothetical as those at present, and all the same the Government entered into the Convention?
