HC Deb 23 April 1914 vol 61 c1114
Mr. RAMSAY MACDONALD

I beg to ask the Prime Minister a question of which I have given private notice, namely, whether, in view of the Debate yesterday on the conditions under which troops may be employed to quell civil disturbances arising out of trade disputes, he will appoint a Committee to inquire into and report upon the various points raised?

The PRIME MINISTER

I have received representations from many of my political Friends in the same sense. I intend to ask the House to appoint such a Committee.

Mr. PRINGLE

Will my right hon. Friend see that the terms of reference to the Committee are not confined simply to trade disputes, as there are other aspects of the problem?

The PRIME MINISTER

I think that that is a very reasonable request.
