HC Deb 23 April 1914 vol 61 c1100
64. Mr. PATRICK WHITE

asked the Prime Minister whether, having regard to the opinion prevailing in Ireland that the powers conferred upon the Department of Agriculture and Fisheries by the Contagious Diseases of Animals Act, 1894, are being unfairly and unreasonably used in the interests of English stockowners, to the detriment and possible ruin of Irish owners, and in a manner totally at variance with the intentions of the authors of the Act, he will grant an inquiry by a suitable Committee into the administration of the Act and the Regulations made by the English Department affecting the landing and treatment of Irish cattle?

The PRIME MINISTER

I see no reason to alter the decision which I conveyed to the hon. Member on 2nd March on this subject.
