HC Deb 21 April 1914 vol 61 c740
26. Captain WARING

asked the Secretary for Scotland whether his attention has been drawn to a resolution passed at the annual meeting of the Scottish. Fisheries Association at Buckie on 3rd April, in which the Report of the Departmental Committee on North Sea Fisheries in respect of the question of State loans was condemned as not representing fairly the views of Scottish fishermen; whether he is satisfied that the composition of the Committee in respect of all its members and the methods adopted of obtaining evidence were such as to secure an impartial judgment; and, if not, will he order a fresh inquiry into the question?

The SECRETARY for SCOTLAND (Mr. McKinnon Wood)

The answer to the first portion of my hon. Friend's question is in the affirmative, subject to the observation that in the copy of the resolution sent to me it was the evidence given before the Committee and not the Report itself which was criticised on the ground mentioned. The answer to the second portion of the question is in the affirmative, and I do not think that further inquiry is, necessary.
