HC Deb 21 April 1914 vol 61 cc758-9
68. Mr. O'DOWD

asked the Chief Secretary whether the Congested Districts Board have approached Mr. R. St. G. Robinson, J.P., of Sligo, with a view to the purchase of the grazing farm of Old-rock, Cloonoghill, E. Division, Tubber-curry Union, county Sligo, now occupied by him; whether he is aware that twenty families were capriciously evicted from this farm forty years ago by the late Johnston Park, although their rents were paid up; and whether, seeing that many of the descendants of these evicted tenants are squatting on patches of reclaimed bog in the neighbourhood of this farm, steps will be taken to have it purchased so that congestion may be relieved?

Mr. BIRRELL

The Congested Districts Board have not approached Mr. Robinson regarding a sale of the lands of Oldrock referred to, and they have no information regarding the alleged evictions mentioned in the question. Inquiries will now be made regarding the property.
