HC Deb 14 April 1914 vol 61 c5
4. Sir J. D. REES

asked the Under-Secretary of State for India whether the Secretary of State has further information as to fighting in Kalimpong; and, if so, what is the cause of the outbreak of hostilities between the Tibetans and the Chinese?

Mr. ACLAND

No fighting has taken place at Kalimpong which is in British India. As regards reported fighting between Tibetans and Chinese in East Tibet, to which the hon. Member presumably refers, I have nothing to add to my reply to the question of the hon. Member for Central Bradford on the 2nd instant.

Sir J. D. REES

Will the hon. Gentleman reply to the second portion of my question?

Mr. ACLAND

The reply was that he bad knowledge that certain skirmishes had taken place, but he had no knowledge as to the cause.
