HC Deb 06 April 1914 vol 60 c1608
73. Mr. GOULDING

asked whether, in view of the declared intention of the Government to proceed with the Plural Voting Bill during the present Parliament, it is proposed to establish a boundary commission, representing all parties, or to take any other action for the purpose of remedying the inequalities caused by the present distribution of seats, simultaneously with the passing of the Bill?

The PRESIDENT of the LOCAL GOVERNMENT BOARD (Mr. Herbert Samuel)

The matter is receiving the attention of the Government, but I am not at present in a position to make a statement with regard to it.

Mr. REMNANT

Is it the intention of the Government to push on the Plural Voting Bill at a time when it is more than ever necessary that this House should properly represent the country, while the great inequalities mentioned in the question, caused by the present distribution of seats, remain unredressed?

Mr. SPEAKER

That is really an argumentative statement.
