HC Deb 06 April 1914 vol 60 cc1617-8
101. Mr. FLAVIN

asked the Chief Secretary whether he has received a resolution, passed unanimously by the Kerry County Council, calling attention to the loss and damage caused by the continuous flooding of about 8,000 acres of land in and around the River Feale, from Lixnaw to the Cashion Mouth, North Kerry; whether he is aware that a large part of this flooding is caused by the backwaters of the River Shannon being driven up the Feale through the Cashion Mouth; and whether he will also include in the Shannon inquiry the condition of the River Feale?

Mr. BIRRELL

I have received the resolution referred to. As the river in question flows into the sea near Ballybunion, I do not see how it can he affected by any flooding of the River Shannon.

Mr. FLAVIN

Will the right hon. Gentleman forward that reply to the county council?

Mr. BIRRELL

Yes.
