HC Deb 07 May 1913 vol 52 cc2023-4
13. Mr. WATT

asked whether the Danish Government lends money to fishermen to provide them with paraffin motors for their fishing boats; and whether the rate payable on such loans is 3 per cent., with ten years in which to repay the principal?

Mr. ACLAND

The information at the disposal of the Government with regard to State loans to fishermen in Denmark is conveniently summarised in the second appendix to the Report of the Committee appointed by the President of the Board of Agriculture and Fisheries to consider the applications of the Devon and Corn- wall Local Fisheries Committees for Grants from the Development Fund, Cd. 6752, pages 30, etc., to which perhaps my hon. Friend will allow me to refer him. It is believed that the loans therein referred to include loans for the installation of motor power in fishing vessels, though they are not confined to that purpose.
