HC Deb 07 May 1913 vol 52 cc2030-1
40. Mr. F. HALL

asked if it is proposed to postpone the promised relief of local taxation from the burdens now imposed in respect of Imperial services until the completion of the valuation which will take place in 1915; and if it is proposed on the completion of that valuation to introduce measures to secure the revaluation of land on a basis that will provide the additional money necessary to relieve the local burdens of such charges?

Mr. MASTERMAN

No such proposals have been made as those suggested by the hon. Member.

Mr. F. HALL

May I ask whether we are to understand that recommendations will be brought forward soon for Grants in relief of local taxation as promised?

Mr. MASTERMAN

I do not think the House should understand anything except what I have said in answer to the hon. Gentleman's question.

Mr. F. HALL

Is the House to understand that relief will not be granted in the near future?

Mr. MASTERMAN

I say that no such proposals as those suggested by the hon. Member have been made.
