§ The PRESIDENT of the BOARD of AGRICULTURE (Mr. Runciman)The area under wheat in the United Kingdom in 1912 was 1,971,801 acres, an increase of 18 per cent. since 1907. I regret that I cannot give complete figures for the Empire as a whole, but provisional figures for Australia, Canada, India, and New Zealand, show a total area under wheat in 1912 of 47,391,000 acres, an increase of 37 per cent. since 1907.
