asked to what extent the education committee of the London County Council and other large authorities have adopted the idea of school gardens; and whether there are any instances of school gardens in the agricultural districts which are used for the purpose of teaching fruit culture, as in some parts of Germany?


I am sending the hon. Member a list of schools and centres (recognised for Special Grant under the Code) at which instruction was given in gardening during the year ended 31st October, 1912. In some of these fruit culture is included in the instruction given.
