HC Deb 24 June 1913 vol 54 cc947-8
1. Mr. DILLON

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether, in view of the situation disclosed in the Papers on the affairs of Persia recently laid before the House, he will endeavour to secure an opportunity for the discussion of the Persian question before the close of the present Session?

The UNDER-SECRETARY of STATE for FOREIGN AFFAIRS (Mr. Acland)

[...]y right hon. Friend asks me to apologise be his absence to-day, which is due to his pre[...] in attendance at the arrival of the [...]nt of the French Republic. As the hon. Member knows the decision as to the subjects to be discussed in Supply does not rest with the Government, and he will remember that on 29th May, when Foreign Affairs were discussed, my right hon. Friend did not press that the Vote should be taken. There will therefore be an opportunity for discussing the Vote on some other day, if the House so desires.

Mr. MORRELL

Can my right hon. Friend say whether we shall have an opportunity of discussing it to-morrow on the Consolidated Fund Bill?

Mr. ACLAND

I am not informed whether it will be in order on that occasion.
