HC Deb 24 June 1913 vol 54 c966
40. Sir J. D. REES

asked the President, of the Board of Education whether children lose their marks for attendance while they are at the clinic waiting their turn for medical inspection; and, if so, why the ratepayers are penalised by loss of Grant as well as by cost of medical inspection?

The PRESIDENT of the BOARD of EDUCATION (Mr. J. A. Pease)

If satisfactory arrangements are made, no loss of Grant is involved by the attendance of children at inspection clinics in school hours. I need hardly remind the hon. Member that Grant is paid on average attendance, and that regularity of attendance is promoted by the improved health of the children due to inspection.
