HC Deb 23 June 1913 vol 54 c773
13. Mr. BLAIR

asked the Financial Secretary to the Treasury if he will inquire into the case of George Lording, a painter, who is a deposit contributor at Bow, who complains that owing to the Post Office having lost his first quarter's insurance card he is unable to draw his unemployment benefit, to get work on account of having no insurance book to show to a possible employer, and to get a reply to his letters to the Commissioners?

The FINANCIAL SECRETARY to the TREASURY (Mr. Masterman)

I am informed that the insured person to whom the hon. Member refers was not debarred from receiving unemployment benefit by the loss of his health insurance card, and in fact received twenty-four days benefit until he found work. As to the loss of the health insurance card, I am making inquiry and will inform the hon. Member of the result.
