HC Deb 23 June 1913 vol 54 c771
9. Mr. C. BATHURST

asked the President of the Board of Agriculture whether the Government have decided to abandon the Bee Disease Bill for this Session; and, if not, when it is proposed to proceed with its further stages?

Mr. RUNCIMAN

The answer to the first part of the question is in the negative. In reply to the second part I have nothing to add to the answer given to a similar question by the Prime Minister on the 12th June.

Mr. C. BATHURST

Does the right hon. Gentleman realise that with regard to this Bill there is considerable opposition arising in the country, and unless the right hon. Gentleman takes the Bill soon there will be a great chance of its having to be abandoned?

Mr. RUNCIMAN

I have no desire to force the Bill through against the opinion of the country. My experience is that, what opposition there was to the Bill is gradually fading away.
