HC Deb 19 June 1913 vol 54 cc528-9
18. Mr. TOUCHE

asked the scale of remuneration of tailors in the receiver's department of the Metropolitan Police?

Mr. McKENNA

Seven tailors are employed, of whom five are permanent. The foreman tailor receives 42s. a week, two tailors receive 38s., and four tailors receive 36s. The permanent tailors are pensionable.

19. Mr. TOUCHE

asked whether there have been any retirements of higher officials in the receiver's department of the Metropolitan Police during this year; and what retiring allowances have been granted?

Mr. McKENNA

The only such retirement is that of the second surveyor, to whom a pension of £344 10s. a year has been awarded.

20. Mr. TOUCHE

asked when the remuneration of clerks of works in the receiver's department of the Metropolitan Police was last increased?

Mr. McKENNA

The remuneration of the permanent clerks of works was increased in 1907; that of the temporary-clerks of works in the current year.

21. Mr. TOUCHE

asked how many voluntary resignations from the Metropolitan Police Force (not on pension) there have been during the present year?

Mr. McKENNA

There have been 103 such resignations since the 1st January last—about the ordinary proportion.

22. Mr. TOUCHE

asked how long it is since the wages of the general staff in the receiver's department of the Metropolitan Police have been revised; and what section of workers has gone for the longest period without a revision of wages?

Mr. McKENNA

The salaries of the general staff, by which I presume the hon. Member means the clerical establishment, of the receiver's office, were revised in 1909; the class of workers whose wages have remained unaltered for the longest period are the tailors employed in the store department, but three members of that class have recently received increases of pay.
