HC Deb 19 June 1913 vol 54 c531
30. Mr. POINTER

asked the President of the Local Government Board the reason why, after an official of his Department has held a public inquiry into a housing scheme for the pier district of Dover and subsequently an interview was granted to the mayor and surveyor of Dover, who proposed an alternative scheme by which one side of two streets, not included in the previous scheme, was to be pulled down and no extra provision made, an application by the working-class housing committee for an interview was refused?

Mr. BURNS

The request to the Board to receive a deputation from persons representing the pier district was not made until 26th May, and the Board's decisions, come to after careful consideration of all the facts, had already been communicated to the corporation by letters dated the 13th and 24th gay.
