HC Deb 19 June 1913 vol 54 cc529-30
25. Sir JOHN SPEAR

asked the Secretary of State the result of his consideration of the suggestion that has been made to him by the Association of Poor Law Unions in England and Wales for an Amendment of the Children Act, 1908, whereby the keeping of an infant in respect of whom any notice required by Section 1 of the Act to be given to the local authority has not been given shall be constituted an offence under Part I. of the Act?

Mr. McKENNA

I agree that an Amendment of the Statute is desirable in order to make the law more effectual; and the point will be dealt with when an opportunity occurs for legislation on this subject.
