HC Deb 18 June 1913 vol 54 c373
52. Mr. SHEEHAN

asked the Secretary to the Treasury whether there is still an unexpended balance of £35,000 out of the £60,000 set aside and ear-marked for the improvement of railway facilities in Cork county; whether any representations were made by the Cork and Muskerry and Donoughmore Light Railway as to the necessity for a Grant-in-Aid for the development of this system and the relief of the baronial guarantee, which presses heavily on the ratepayers over a wide area; what is the result of the Treasury consideration of this matter; and when will a decision be come to as to the equitable allocation of these unexpended balances?

The FINANCIAL SECRETARY

to the TREASURY (Mr. Masterman): With regard to the first and last parts of the question I would refer the hon. Member to the answer I gave yesterday to the hon. Member for North Cork. I have received representations with regard to the light railways referred to, but I fear I am unable at present to do anything in the matter.
