HC Deb 18 June 1913 vol 54 c367
36. Mr. STANIER

asked the President of the Board of Trade whether he will send out a special commission to South America to watch and report on the actions of the beef trusts, so as to safeguard the beef supplies of this country?

Mr. BUXTON

The matter is receiving careful attention. Information as regards the principal developments which take place in the Argentine meat trade is furnished from time to time by His Majesty's Minister at Buenos Ayres, and I do not think that any useful purpose would be served by adopting the course suggested by the hon. Member.
