HC Deb 17 June 1913 vol 54 c188
16. Sir MARK SYKES

asked the Secretary of State for War whether, in view of the shortage of Territorial officers and the small number of applicants for commissions, he will consider the feasibility of allowing selected members of the Officers' Training Corps to be attached as officers to Territorial units for training during their second year's service, instead of training with their own corps, if they so desire?

Colonel SEELY

It is hoped that when the recent large increase of the outfit Grant becomes more generally known, the number of applicants for commissions will steadily increase. There was a net increase of nineteen officers last month. I think, therefore, that it will be better to await the result of the increased outfit Grant before taking into consideration the suggestion contained in the question.
