HC Deb 10 June 1913 vol 53 cc1415-6
16. Mr. BUTLER LLOYD

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if the agent of an approved society is within his rights in withholding maternity benefits, under the National Insurance Act, for two months when the application is in perfect order; and, if he is within his rights, whether he will take steps to amend the Act so as to remove this grievance?

The FINANCIAL SECRETARY to the TREASURY (Mr. Masterman)

An insured person duly qualified for maternity benefit, and making proper application for it, should certainly receive it without delay. If the hon. Member will inform me of any particular case in which delay has occurred I will make inquiries as to its cause.

Mr. BUTLER LLOYD

May I send particulars of the case?

Mr. MASTERMAN

I specially asked the hon. Member to do so.
