HC Deb 09 June 1913 vol 53 cc1259-60
65. Captain MURRAY

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department the number of summonses taken out for reckless and dangerous driving under Section 1 of the Motor Car Act, 1903, during each of the years 1910, 1911, and 1912, and the number of cases in which convictions were obtained?

The SECRETARY of STATE for the HOME DEPARTMENT (Mr. McKenna)

In the Metropolitan police district the number of summonses was 318 in 1910, and 413 in 1911. The number of convictions was 253 and 339. The figures for 1912 are not yet available. The returns for the rest of the country, which will be found in Table XXIII. of the criminal statistics, give the total number of charges with respect to motor cars, but not the numbers under the several Sections of the Act.
