Mr. NIELDasked whether senior lieutenants in the Royal Marines of ten years' service are only entitled to receive 7s per diem at headquarters with 6d. per 860 diem messing allowance when at sea, while probationary lieutenants under the Osborne scheme draw pay at the rate of 7s. 6d. per diem on joining and 10s. per diem on the completion of their probationary term; if so, what is the reason for such inequality; and what steps does he propose to take to remedy it?
