HC Deb 29 July 1913 vol 56 cc287-8
50. Mr. HUNT

asked the Secretary to the Treasury how many appointments as messengers, postmen, warders, and park-keepers there were under Government on 31st March, 1913; and how many of these appointments were held by ex-Navy and ex-Army men?

Mr. WEDGWOOD BENN (Lord of the Treasury)

I would refer the hon. Member to the Return issued yesterday on the Motion of the hon. and gallant Member for the Melton Division, which gives full particulars for each Department.

Mr. HUNT

Can the hon. Gentleman say why not half of the appointments are filled by ex-Navy and ex-Army men?

Mr. W. BENN

That is not the question on the Paper. I would rather have notice of the question.
