Member for St. George's-in-the-East, as representing the First Commissioner of Works, what are the present hours during which bathing is permitted in the Serpentine; and whether, during the school holidays, he will repeat last year's arrangement under which school children could bathe from mid-day each day?
§ Mr. WEDGWOOD BENN (Lord of the Treasury)
The present hours during which bathing is permitted in the Serpentine are from 5 to 8.30 a.m., and from 6 to 8.30 p.m. The First Commissioner has approved of arrangements being made again this year whereby school children under fourteen years of age are allowed to bathe from 1 p.m. during the school holidays.
