Sir WALTER ESSEXasked the President of the Board of Trade whether his attention has been drawn to the accident on 17th January last in which two men lost their lives owing to the nearness of the railway lines to the abutments of the bridge over the Midland and South Western Railway at Cheltenham; whether he knows that this is not the first fatal accident at this spot; and whether he proposes to take any steps to prevent further loss of life from the inadequacy of passage space at the place indicated?
Mr. ROBERTSONAn inquiry has been ordered into this accident. The Board of Trade have no record of any other fatal accident at the same spot during recent years.
